關於遼宋外交關係的史料，雖然可以在《遼史》中，看到一些屬於遼國方面的記載，但是《遼史》的內容過於簡略，有許多遼臣接觸遼宋外交的事蹟被忽略，或未被列傳。因此筆者擬從《遼代石刻文編》和《遼代石刻文續編》所收錄的遼人墓誌，節錄出傳主接觸遼宋外交事務的記載，予以進一步的探討。

Most descriptions of foreign relations between the Liao and Song dynasties could be found in the Liao Shi (History of Liao). However, these valuable descriptions were too brief to contain the practice of Liao’s foreign ministers and their achievements on the Liao-Song foreign
relations. Therefore, the author attempts to have a further study of Liao-Song foreign affairs by exploring and analyzing the epitaph of the Liao Dynasty which were recorded in the Liao Dai Shi Ke Wen Bian and the Liao Dai Shi Ke Wen Xu Bian.
