A compact printed tapered slot antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) for ultra wideband (UWB) applications is proposed in this article. The proposed antenna size is only 20x25x1.6 mm3 and its impedance bandwidth matching VSWR<2 from 2.7 to 11 GHz covered the entire UWB frequency band. Moreover, the measured antenna characteristics show a monopole-like omni-directional pattern and a small group delay. Details of the proposed antenna design and measured results are also presented and discussed.
