中文摘要

個人心理健康常與身體狀況、日常大小事務、及社會互動息息相關。若心理上能常保持愉悅心境,研究也顯示對其身體疾病罹病程度有遞減效果,對於人際關係上也能有較多之互動網絡。所以,國內外成功老化之研究經常提及老人身體心理健康及社會互動之於老年的重要性。然而,國內不乏情緒相關研究,但是對於高齡者情緒相關之論述則屈指可數。本文拋磚引玉,希望藉此老人情緒調適議題,能拓展一些此領域研究空間。此外,本文也使用美國資料庫(MIDUS)簡短分析65歲以上1411位老人的身體活動與情緒障礙之關連性,尤其是初步探討少見於文獻的不同種類身體活動(家事及休閒活動)對於長輩情緒健康之可能相關性,也希望未來研究能持續做更深入探討此議題。

英文摘要

Body and mind are strongly associated in terms of keeping good health. While gradually losing physical strength, it is particularly vital for the elders to maintain positive mental conditions to decrease the impact of ageing. The paper reviews literature on the elders' emotional issues for successful ageing. The misunderstanding of depressive disorders as normal signs of ageing derives from the pervasiveness among the senior population. The negligence contributes to tragedies and even a higher rate of suicide of the elders. Eight positive strategies are introduced to sustain successful ageing, and additionally, in the hope of future research to be conducted and more resources to be allocated to the concerns.
