本文試圖詮釋《詩•桃夭》一詩可能蘊含的意義。基本上是透過孔子論詩 的意見？詩可以興？敞開人封閉的生命。〈毛傳〉以興解詩？義雖稍別？亦有 助於理解詩義。這首詩以桃樹和桃花的華美的意象譬喻新婚女子的美麗與欣 悅？固是自然而生動；而神話中的「桃林」和民俗中的「桃木」都與再生與新 生相關聯？這些文化積澱豐富了桃樹的意象。因而也可從詩句中延伸出「生生 不已」和生機洋溢之趣。這首詩就不僅是描述性的、限於文字表面所傳達的意 思；進而超越文字的本身？直接訴諸生命的眞實意義。
