英文摘要

Background: Several studies have shown the significant beneficial effects of music intervention on the mental status, depression, and quality of life of people with mental illnesses. However, most of these studies have used a quantitative rather than qualitative research design.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the subjective experience and perceptions of nursing-home schizophrenia patients in a primary group music intervention.
Methods: The participants received group music intervention for three months. Afterwards, two interviews were conducted with a total of 13 focus group participants.
Results: Five themes emerged regarding the patients' subjective experiences and perceptions of primary group music therapy: (1) relieving stress; (2) focusing thoughts on other things; (3) reminiscing on life experiences; ⑷ enjoying the diversity of music; (5) improving personal interactions.
Conclusions / Implications for Practice: The group musical intervention improved participants' mental rehabilitation and interpersonal relationships. The researchers suggest that mental health nurses consider including group music intervention in continuity of care activities to improve the quality of life of schizophrenia patients living in nursing homes.
