行動裝置對其他行動裝置使用應用服務互動時,大多為網內互傳。為了提升網內點對點互相傳輸的服務品質,藉由改善後端核心網路本地端的路由方式,能夠節省核心網路不必要的頻寬浪費和縮短行動裝置的資料傳輸延遲時間。本文所提出的本地路由方式係基於微波存取全球互通(Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access;WiMAX)及長期演進技術(Long Term Evolution; LTE),新增核心網路本地路由(Local Routing)的功能, 使網內點對點傳輸不需經過本地代理器(Home Agent), 而是透過負責後端與基地台介接及處理資料路徑之存取閘道器(Access Gateway)進行傳送。另一方面本地路由不需解析每個網際協定(Internet rotocol; IP)封包之目的地位址即可執行Local Routing的概念,除了節省Access Gateway與Home Agent間不必要的頻寬浪費,本文提出的Local Routing亦可降低點對點資料傳輸上的延遲時間,對於延遲時間要求很嚴格的應用服務,例如VoIP 通話, 能提昇傳輸品質。

Real-time applications such as VoIP are very sensitive to network transmission delay, which results in a degradation of service quality. In a mobile communication network such as a 4G telecommunication system
or WiMAX, the sources of transmission delay vary and are diverse. Especially, when two mobile devices nearby communicate with each other for through VoIP, the VoIP traffic first flows to the core network of a
mobile communication network and back to the same local network afterwards. Furthermore, the unnecessary traffic detour also contributes a considerable bandwidth burden to the core network. In order to improve the
service quality of such applications in local peer-to-peer connection scenarios, we propose a novel packet routing method to reduce transmission delay and bandwidth overhead, helping Internet service providers to gain less capital expenditure and operating expense as well. Therefore, the packets are no longer being routed in a detour way. Thus, the bandwidth for the detour routing is saved in the core network and the transmission delay of real-time applications is also reduced, thus bringing the applications a better service quality.
