電子貨架標籤是一種小型顯示裝置,取代原來的紙製標籤,提供商品名稱和標價等資訊,和傳統標籤由店員逐一更新比起來,使用電子貨架標籤較有效率而且不易發生貼錯或標錯的問題。典型的電子貨架標籤系統包含數千個至數萬個的標籤和一個閘道器,閘道器從後方的資料庫取得商品資訊,以無線的方式更新這些標籤的內容。本文提出一種更新電子貨架標籤內容的系統與方法,係由每個電子貨架標籤根據目前的佈建規模,彼此協調並自行決定更新的排程,而非傳統由中央決定更新排程後傳送給電子貨架標籤的方式,如此可消除接收更新排程的時間,而節省電子貨架標籤的電力消耗, 同時提供較高的彈性以因應無線傳輸的不確定性。

英文摘要

Electronic shelf labels (ESLs) are small display devices. They displace traditional paper labels and providing information such as product names and prices to customers. Compared with paper labels, it is more efficient and caused fewer mistakes such as mis-labeled using electronic shelf labels. A typical electronic shelf label system usually contains more than thousands of electronic shelf labels and a gateway. The gateway reads product information from backend database and updates corresponding electronic shelf labels wirelessly. In this paper, we present new methods to update electronic shelf labels. Unlike existed method which the gateway determines update schedule and broadcast it to all labels. In presented methods, each electronic shelf label coordinates with each other and determines its own updating schedule according to system capacity. Electronic shelf labels can reduce their energy usage by saving the need to receive schedule broadcast. It also provides better flexibility to handle uncertainty of wireless communication.
