馳騁在外太空,名聞遐邇的美國太空總署(NASA),除了發展太空研究外,也把資源投入美國科普教育。其功能,像是推動科普教育列車的巨輪。 NASA 對美國科普教育所產生的影響及其推動科普教育的途徑與方式,及對挽救美國學生在科普教育成績低落的頹勢做了那些努力?為解答這些答案的好奇心,開啟了這個探析研究。本文從策略、組織、計畫任務與活動等四個面向,分析及探討太空總署在美國科普教育中的角色。美國的經驗雖然不能任意複製,但其推動科普教育的模式,仍是寶貴的資產。

英文摘要

Setting space-crafts to soar in outer space, NASA is a world famous research institute that also contributes its resources to American popular science educa-tion. It functions like a huge wheel which propels the train of American popular science education. What impact did NASA create on American popular science education? What approach and method has NASA adopted to advance American popular science education? What endeavors has NASA made on improving American students’ poor grade performance in popular science education? Curiosity is the drive that leads to exploring the possible answers to these questions. This paper aims to explore and analyze NASA’s role in promot-ing American popular science education from four dimensions: strategy, organi-zation, project missions and activities. The American model of promoting popular science education can not be duplicated elsewhere at will. However, it serves as a valuable asset to human race.
