本研究企圖理解造訪司馬庫斯的遊客面貌,以及在偏遠區位背後的意義探究。研究區是一泰雅族的原住民部落,因發現神木、且道路晚近開通,位處偏遠,而觀光聲名大噪。筆者以文獻回顧法、傳媒分析法、深入訪談法、問卷訪查法等多元方法,作為解讀的憑藉。結果顯示,資訊科技促成遊客的離家,傳媒效應形塑其擁抱世外桃源的想像,致使遊客攫取引人注意的生態符號,並以發展旅遊興趣而前往,以及消費者呈現無形資源與簡單化的需求型態,對於真實性體驗的認知則眾說紛云等;另外,研究亦發現遊客有重自然、輕文化的事實,並且因司馬庫斯低度的易達性,已造成遊客來源的篩選效應,形成遊客在特徵、動機與消費上的鮮明性格。

英文摘要

This research tried to understand what the features of the tourists and why the visiting to remote area for them were in Smangus. The study area is a small, remote, aboriginal village of Atayal. It became famous for the sacred trees, and its virginity owing to connecting road built until 1995. Through the literature reviewing, mass media analysis, depth interviewing, and questionnaire surveying, the results included. They are as follows: information technologies contributing to the tourists' visits, Smangus being shaped as a tourist paradise by mass media, tourists gazing the ecological symbol in the nature and letting their habits to practice, their consumption showing the simple demands, and the discussion on authenticity being diverse among them. In addition, the tourists perceived well about the nature, but unconcerned the indigenous culture. However, the low accessibility had filtered the specific sources of the tourists by their characteristic, motivation and consumption.
