個人的休閒動機與行爲會隨著生命過程中階段的不同而產生變化，本研究從戶外遊憩之觀點出發，特別針對追求穩定感和追求新鮮感在生命過程中之變化模式作一探討。結果顯示，樣本中每個年齡層之追求穩定感的人數百分比都超過追求新鮮感的人數百分比，其間的差距亦隨著年齡層的主昇而擴大。追求新鮮感的人數百分比在生命過程中並無顯著起伏，相對地，追求穩定感的人數百分比卻顯著地隨著年齡層的上昇而增加。

The purpose of this study was to identify the patterns of stability-seeking and novelty-seeking in outdoor recreation experiences across the lifespan. Results showed that the percentage of respondents identified as stability-seekers was higher than that of novelty-seekers in all age groups and that the gap between novelty-seeking and stability-seeking widened as age increases. Results also supported the concept that novelty-and stability-seeking fluctuate as development proceeds during the life cycle. However, in contrast to Iso-Ahola's theoretical speculation, this study found that novelty-seeking is independent from age, whereas stability-seeking increases as age increases.
