本研究之目的在建立一則針對主題地圖之校園地圖的地圖設計法，以供製圖者在繪製校園地圖時參考。透過地圖圖幅尺寸大小的選擇、所呈現地圖資訊的選擇、面圖徵與線圖徵的簡化、位移、誇大、色彩搭配、符號化、文字註記等地圖設計因子之繪製與設計過程進行闡述，最後整理成設計法則。依據此設計法則進行樣本地圖繪製，並透過問卷的方式調查讀者之反應，再由讀者的反饋得到的資訊，對設計法則進行修正，期能達到最佳的地圖傳播效果。經由問卷結果的數據交叉比對、檢驗後得知在地圖認知方面，性別不同與地圖認知並無顯著關係；在校園區位方面，由本研究設計法所繪製之樣本地圖，讀者仍可正確地辨別不同區位之校園地圖；在地圖簡化方面，本研究發展出將建物輪廓依據圖幅尺寸大小的不同，保留建物不同程度的輪廓幾何形狀特徵點，並依據距離建物中心點的遠近，由內而外循序漸進地刪除次要特徵點，進行不同程度的簡化。此外，也針對道路線條進行簡化，透過保留構成道路主要方向性之兩個特徵端點，刪除在此特徵端點之中次要的節點，使得道路呈現平滑化之線段。本研究透過讀者進行問卷調查後的結果顯示，經由此設計法繪製之地圖可讀性比未經設計前更佳。

The purpose of this study is to create a rule to design the campus map, which will serve as a reference to the mapmakers. Through format size selection, map information selection, polygon and polyline simplification, displacement, exaggeration, color matching principles, annotation and other map design factors organized into design rules. Based on this design rules a sample map is made, also a questionnaire for the effect of the map is made. From the questionnaire data via cross-comparison of the examination concludedthat in thecognition aspect there is no significant between male and female ;in the campus location aspect, the subjectscan correctly identify different location of the sample map; according to different layout size, decide different basic contour and geometric shape of a building and then develop a simplification rule ;the rule is from the inside out successive delete the minor characteristics according to the distance from the geometric center point of a building. Besides, the polyline stand for road, only preserve their two endpoints to present directional characteristics, and making the road showing as the smoothed line. The result shows that the map which was designed is more legibility than wasn't.
