台灣各國家公園活動逐年增加，其所產生的效益與衝擊應不容忽視。本研究目的係評估2004年及2005年在太魯閣國家公園舉辦之國際馬拉松活動所產生的效益，藉由休閒、經濟、保育、教育、宣傳與組織等六方面比較兩屆活動之可能差異。研究結果顯示，該活動近兩年均吸引超過六、七千位以上健跑者參加，並滿足所有參與者之休閒效益；但由於兩屆活動之健跑路線與困難度不同，使得健跑者在獲得成就感之效益有顯著差異。在經濟效益上，兩屆活動之收益無顯著差異，但參與之健跑者多來自外縣市並願意消費，因而爲花蓮當地帶來上千萬元之收益。國家公園之管理者與活動執行者雖然認同馬拉松活動能提升太魯閣國家公園知名度與增加地方產業營收，但對於國家公園之保育與教育效益卻是有限。整體而言，太魯閣國際馬拉松對於所有活動參與者之休閒需求、地方產業經濟、國家公園宣傳與組織上確實產生相當大的效益。

There are increasing numbers of events held in Taiwan’s National Parks each year and the scales of events tend to become larger. In order to understand the benefits and impact generated by these events, this study evaluates the benefits of Taroko International Marathon on perspectives of recreation, economy, conservation, education, advertisement and organization. This study also compares these benefits of events held in 2004 and 2005. The results show that participating in the Marathon satisfied most runners’ needs for recreational benefits. Due to the difference between two years’ running routes, there was a significant difference in achievement benefit of runners. In terms of economic benefits, there is no significant difference between 2004 and 2005. Most runners come from other counties and are willing to spend money on the local transportation, food, accommodation and products. Hence, tens of millions of NT dollars generated from this event improve the local industries. From the views of Park’s managers and event operators, they all agreed that the Marathon increased the local income and fame of Taroko National Park but hindered its conservation. In conclusion, the benefits of Taroko International Marathon were substantial in terms of recreation, economy, advertisement and organization.
