本文之研究目的，在於瞭解網路傳播科技作為跨文化溝通平台的契機與困境；研究訪談16位跨地旅居來台求學的緬甸僑生，並觀察其在【臉書】上的線上人格與人際互動關係。研究結果發現，以賽伯人姿態生存於網路空間活動的旅居者，透過其多重語言的優勢，讓認同位置流動與遊走於主文化與原文化之間，而賽伯社群的重新聚合亦提供與原文化社群的跨地整合；然而，網路溝通平台卻也無助於解決深層文化認同糾葛。

In contemporary society, digital technology facilitates thecompression of time and space that affords virtual movement acrosssociocultural borders, that cross culture communication tries to strideacross too. The article tried to explore the opportunities and straits of theInternet as the platform of cross culture communication. The studyinterviewed 16 Myanmar Overseas Chinese students in Taiwan andobserved their identity constructions and interpersonal communicationson Facebook. We find that cyberspace provides a safe place where theycould wander between host culture and home culture. Although theirsocial networks were based on home culture, the characteristics ofInternet communication, including online personality andcybercommunity, are the effective tools and protections that sojournerscould use to overcome culture shock.
