臺灣近年來也成為外籍學生來就學的最佳選擇之一,外籍學生來臺灣就學的人數每一年增加,從2006年外籍學生在臺灣就讀有26,488位,到了2011年外籍學生在臺灣就讀的人數有55,463位。由於國際化已成為國立中興大學的一個焦點,外籍學生人數一直在不斷的增加。統計從2005年的163位上升到今天的300多位,最大的部分是來自泰國的學生。研究主要是以泰國學生在臺灣國立中興大學就讀觀點為例,研究目的是深入瞭解泰國學生在臺灣就讀適應歷程,本研究透過質性研究的深度訪談法、參與式觀察、臉書(Facebook)的文件分析等方式,對11位泰國學生進行資料的蒐集。
研究結果發現,泰國的外籍生在臺灣適應上的問題大致上有11類,亦即是思鄉病、財務、租屋和飲食、語言流暢度、瞭解授課內容與在課堂裡的參與、預備書面與口頭報告、理解當地社會的風俗、結交朋友、物理環境的適應、支援系統不足等。
針對研究結果,本研究提出六項建議:要規劃並開設不同程度的中文/華語加強課程、提供新生訓練課程、提供預防式的心理諮商、提供接待家庭方案、提供與臺灣本地學生的學習夥伴、建立支援性的環境或有該國特色的社交性團體。

英文摘要

Taiwan has been one of the best choices for foreign students for post-secondary education in recent years. Total number of foreign students increases each year, such as 26,488 in 2006 to 64,558 in 2012. In addition, since internationalization is one of a central foci among many colleges and thus foreign students increase continually. The statistics shows that there are 300 more foreigners, mostly Thai students at National Chung-Hsin University. This research is to study the adjustment process of Thai students at NCHU through in-depth interview, participant observation, and document analysis of Facebook upon 11 samples.
The research finding is as follows. There are 11 categories of adjustment problem among Thai students in Taiwan, in terms of (1) homesickness, (2) financial problem, (3) housing, (4) food, (5) language fluency, (6) understanding lectures and class participation, (7) preparing written and oral reports, (8) understanding local customs, (9) making friends, (10) physical environment adjustment, and (11) insufficient support system.
Based upon the findings, six suggestions are provided: (1) language programs for different levels of foreign students, (2) orientation for newcomers, (3) preventive counseling, (4) host family program, (5) study partner program, and (6) establishing supportive environment.
