Since the fourth generation (4G) communication system has become mature, most research organizations recently have focused on the related topics of designing the future fifth generation (5G) communication systems. One of the key technologies in 5G is the massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology. With the increasing of the number of transmit and receive antennas, the corresponding data capacities can be dramatically improved. According to this concept, this paper first discusses the antenna technology for two-dimensional (2D) antenna array in massive MIMO systems, such as linear precoding and non-linear precoding methods. Additionally, a scalable base station with multiple antennas is reviewed. Furthermore, the construction of the three-dimensional (3D) channel model based on the WINNER II method is also described. In the simulation results, we have construct the WINNER II channel model and the corresponding angle spread of Azimuth angel and Elevation angle is also shown.
