傳統上大學圖書館最主要的任務是支援教學與研究，然而近年來我國各大學圖書館紛紛設置休閒氛圍之閱聽空間，吸引讀者入館。本研究首先回顧國外相關文獻，之後採用半結構性訪談法，以國內十五所大學圖書館的館內76位使用者為研究對象，試圖從他們的觀點探索大學圖書館之休閒功能。研究問題包括：受訪者利用大學圖書館從事那些休閒活動，以及其休閒使用大學圖書館的原因、時機與感受。研究者建議大學圖書館要回應使用者的需求，開始重視休閒方面的功能，並期望研究結果能提供我國大學圖書館做為重新規劃空間與館藏方向時之參考。

Traditionally, an academic library's primary mission is to augment teaching andresearch. In recent years, several academic libraries, however, have set up functionalspaces embedded with casual atmosphere, aiming to attract potential users. This studyfirst reviewed related literature, followed by semi-structured interviews. 76 in-libraryusers from 15 academic libraries were recruited as the subjects. Their perspectivesregarding functionality of academic libraries were explored. Research questions of thisstudy include: (1) What leisure activities do the interviewees do when utilizing serviceprovided by academic libraries? (2) Why and when do the interviewees visit academic libraries for the purpose of leisure? (3) What attitudes toward such an implementation dothe interviewees hold? Findings of this study suggested that an academic library ought torespond to its users' needs actively and take account of the leisure functionality. Resultsof this study are expected to serve as the reference for space renovation and collectiondevelopment in academic libraries.
