Mobile data traffic has been increasing enormously in recent years due to the rapid penetration ofInternet-enabled mobile devices (e.g., smart phone, tablet PC, laptop, etc.). However, 80 percent of mobiledata is generated indoors. The target of indoor wireless deployment was to fulfill seamless coverage andincrease signal strength. Now the objective becomes to satisfy the data rate and capacity requirements in thefuture. This article discusses the demands and scenarios of indoor wireless applications. Then, severalsolutions from the vendors are analyzed in terms of technologies, features, and their pros and cons.
