本研究之目的在探討幼兒園時就讀全日英語班和半日英語班的兒童,在小學二年級與三年級時英語能力的表現如何。研究對象為就讀同一所安親班的國小學童58名,這些兒童於幼兒園階段亦就讀於同一所幼兒園,部分兒童就讀全日英語班,部分則就讀半日英語班。研究工具有兩種,分別為修正畢保德圖畫詞彙測驗以及音韻處理綜合測驗,測驗分別用來了解兒童之英語詞彙程度與音韻處理能力。結果發現兩種班別的二年級兒童,僅在聲韻覺識一項測驗分數有所差異﹔三年級兒童的各項測驗分數皆無顯著差異﹔但是兒童的年齡,是預測音韻處理能力的有效預測因子,年齡越大的兒童該項能力較佳。最後,針對本研究之發現,提供家長與未來研究之建議。

英文摘要

The purpose of this study is to explore the second grade and third grade children who studied in full-day English class and half-day English class in the kindergarten how to show proficiency in English. Participants are 58 primary school children who study in the same after-school class. All of children were enrolled in the same kindergarten in preschool stage. Some of children studied in full-day English class and others studied in half-day English class. Research measurements include Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-Revised and Comprehensive Test of Phonological Processing. Tests is using for vocabulary and Phonological Processing ability evaluation. Results show significant difference is found in phonological awareness test only for second grade students. There is no difference in all tests for third grade students. Children’s age is a significant factor to phonological awareness ability. Older children show better phonological awareness performance. The findings of this research provide some advices to parents and future research.
