術後腫脹是口腔頷面外科病人常發生的症狀，因此外科醫師於手術後應用敷料加壓技術，以降低血液及組織液滲入被切開且剝離後的組織間隙。而且，敷料加壓可以限制手術區組織的移動。由於，手術後組織的牽扯，可能導致術後水腫和血腫的程度更加明顯。我們使用一種新的手術後頭部包紮技術，盡量使下顎骨前突症病人，在施行雙側下顎枝垂直截骨術，其術後的腫脹減少到最低。

Postoperative swelling is a common symptom in patients undergoing oral and maxillofacial surgery. Therefore, postsurgical pressure dressing was generally applied by surgeons to reduce blood and tissue fluid infiltrating into the dissected interstitial spaces. Moreover, postsurgical pressure dressing could restrict the tissue movement in the operation area. Because postoperative tissue pull and drag could lead to more degree of postsurgical edema and hematoma. We had been used a new head bandage technique to minimize postoperative swelling in patients of mandibular prognathism after bilateral vertical ramus osteotomy.
