Emperor Taiwu had stationed troops at Guabu when he attacked Liu Song dynasty. Thereafter, people settled a shrine called Weidi Temple or Foli Ci and sacrificed to him to commemorate the event. Before the Southern Song dynasty, several literati sighed for his unfinished work. Yet during this period, the term Foli gradually transformed into a symbol of a barbarian king who had threatened Chinese integrity. Facing upon the invasion of Jurchen people and Mongoliansat this time, the public opinions of anti-Jurchen and anti-Mongolians strengthened. Foli Ci located in the domain of the Southern Song was thus finally destroyed by a local official. The decline of a ghost shrine may have various reasons, but the case of Foli Ci shows that nation conflicts play an important role.
