類風溼性關節炎（Rheumatoid Arthritis，簡稱RA）是一種慢性系統性疾病，其特色是免疫系統攻擊自體組織，造成關節疼痛、腫脹、變形，甚至肢體障礙。牙周病是一種發炎性疾病，主因為細菌感染及宿主免疫反應失調，造成牙齒周圍支持組織破壞、牙齒喪失，甚至引起全身系統性反應。本文針對類風溼性關節炎之診斷、類風濕性關節炎與牙周病在流行病學、病理特徵、微生物感染、致病機轉、藥物治療等方面之相關性作一系統性的文獻回顧，以瞭解這兩種疾病的相關性。(J. Family Dent. 9(4): 4-11, 2015)

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic systemic disease characterized by the immune system attacks the host tissue and leads to pain, swelling, joint deformity, and even handicapped. Periodontitis is a common disease worldwide, which is preventable and treatable. The primary etiology is oral bacterial infection and dysregulation of the host inflammatory response, resulting in destruction of supporting structures, tooth loss, and even some systemic effects. This article systemic reviews the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and the similarities between periodontal disease and rheumatoid arthritis in epidemiology, pathologic features, microorganism, etiological mechanism, immunogenetic characteristics, and medical treatment. In light of these findings may further realize the interactions between periodontal disease and rheumatoid arthritis. (J. Family Dent. 9(4): 4-11, 2015)
