英文摘要

This is an article on the significance of the bodily presence of the mentally disabled in the church. Even though church is involved in the charity and welfare of the mentally disabled, very seldom we delve into its theological essence. Therefore this paper aims ultimately to bring the theological meaning of the bodily presence of mentally disabled to the notice of the church. Hopefully we can appreciate more of their presence with us in the church during worship, Eucharist or even living together. This paper undertakes the theological stance of Stanley Hauerwas, the American theologian as the primary resource of study, together with the feminist philosophy Eva Feder Kittay as subsidiary resources. Narrative is the method used in this study as it is one of the major means to understand Hauerwas’theological view. The main content includes language, peace, liturgy and time, interdependence and friendship which are all in relate to the grand narrative we Christians believe in.
