孝，在中華文化中被認為對於人類行為有最深的影響並且也被視為人際關係 的基石。孝道行為不僅可以被視為一種抽象的職能活動並且它也是一種對於接受 者與提供者來說的共同職能活動 (co-occupation)。雖然闡述多元文化中各種職能 活動面向之必須性與重要性已被廣泛的討論與倡導，但是很多有關孝道的研究卻 集中在討論孝的倫理本質及其在歷史中的定位與重要性，而非檢視孝如何影響華 人日常生活與從事職能活動。本文首先將簡單回顧由文學、歷史、哲學觀點對於 孝道所做的研究。接著，由職能科學角度出發探究孝道行為的三個主要領域與相 關研究議題。在這過程當中，首先，孝道將被解構以識別孝道的多維度本質；其 次將進一步描述在盡孝行為中的各種動態歷程，以及盡孝態度如何影響人們從事 日常職能活動；最後，孝道與其他現象的關係，例如健康、安適感或生活品質會 被深入討論。

The necessity and importance of producing knowledge that addresses aspects of occupation in diverse cultures have been widely discussed and advocated. Hsiao, or filial piety, in Chinese culture is considered to be the strongest influence on human conduct and serves as the foundation of interpersonal relationships. However, most of the research on hsiao has focused on its ethical essence, signi cance, and place in Chinese history, rather than on how it a ected everyday living and engagement in occupation. In this article, studies of hsiao published by Chinese literature, historians, and philosophers are  rst reviewed. Next, three dimensions of hsiao is described and research questions are replenished focused on these dimensions via the lens of occupational science. In this process, the author deconstructs hsiao in order to identify its multidimensional nature. Second, the author explores the dynamic processes that are involved in doing hsiao and how the a itudes of hsiao a ect one’s engagement in occupation. Finally, the relationship of hsiao to other phenomena such as quality of life or policy formulation is discussed.
