本調查之目的在延續過去20 年來（1989~2008 年）墾丁國家公園管理處對於秋季 過境本園區猛禽的族群量監看調查。調查期間為09/01~10/31，實際共調查57 日，每 日均調查上午5:30~12:00。結果共記錄2 科12 種遷移性猛禽，其中以赤腹鷹113,314 隻、灰面鵟鷹49,608 隻數量最多，兩者合計佔所有秋季猛禽數量的99.7%。赤腹鷹的 高峰期在9 月中旬及10 月上旬，但今年9 月下旬的數量少於往年；最大量出現在 09/15。灰面鵟鷹的高峰期在10 月中旬，今年的總數為歷年新高，且10/11 單日20,868 隻亦為單日數量的新高紀錄，整體而言灰面鵟鷹近3 年來過境族群有增加的趨勢。

This ground survey was carried out in autumn 2009 in Kenting National Park to continue monitoring the amount and temporal pattern of migratory raptors, such monitoring survey has lasted 20 years since 1989. Survey period was 57 days long from 09/01 to 10/31 deducting 4 days off due to typhoon. In total, 12 species of migratory raptors were recorded. The most numerous were 113,314 Chinese Goshawks and 49,608 Gray-faced Buzzards, comprising 99.7% of all migratory raptors. The peak period of passage for Chinese Goshawk was in mid September and early October, but the number in late September was fewer than before. The peak date was 09/15. The peak period for Grey-faced Buzzard was in mid October. 20,868 Grey-faced Buzzard counted in peak date 10/15 made a new single day highest record in Kenting. The seasonal total number for Grey-faced Buzzard also broke record. The number of Grey-faced Buzzard had a trend of increasing in these 3 years.
