On March 19, 2012, while I was executing the spring raptor migration survey at Little Bay in Kenting National Park, southern Taiwan, I witnessed a large raptor gliding and soaring in the high altitude around 1500~2000 m approaching from the southwest. After 15 minutes it flew northbound. After checking the field guides, and concluding with other investigators, according to its size, contour, temperament, white tail and the yellow bill, we identified it as the Whitetailed Sea Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla). This sighting is the first record for Kenting National Park, and also the southernmost record in Taiwan.
