Newborn screening helps to identify potentially treatable or manageable congenital disorders within days of birth. We present a case of a seven-day-old girl who had subclinical hypothyroidism recognized by newborn screening. As a diagnostic procedure for the cause of hypothyroidism workup, Tc-99m 04 thyroid scan showed two ectopic thyroid glands over sublingual and suprahyoid area. The thyroid ectpoia is a rare congenital abnormality. It is further unusual for two ectopic foci to be present simultaneously. Thyroid scan delineates the size and location of the thyroid tissue.
