海外華人對於中國的想像與理解，往往與在地華人有相當大的不同，越南華人也是如此。早在漢朝時期便有華人移居越南，除了通商的需要之外，也多次因為戰亂的緣故而南移越南，明末清初更是因為不願接受清朝的統治而有大量華人移居越南南部的堤岸（今胡志明市）或中部會安地區。華人在越南除了經商之外，也因為通曉華語的關係而備受重用，其中閩南籍的鄭懷德、李文馥、潘清簡以及廣東籍的吳仁靜都曾出使中國，他們也曾在家譜或詩文集中提及自己原籍為華裔的事實，李文馥曾經在 1831年奉命護送瑞龍號官兵回福建時，寫下他對中國的種種感受。而在這些華裔越南使節的心目中，中國之於他們究竟是一種什麼樣的情感連結，是永遠的故鄉，還是祖先成長的地方？本文將從華裔使節的詩文集出發，討論他們對於中國的書寫，從中了解他們對於家國的想像及情感連結，進而觀察這些華人使節對於中國與越南之間的情感差異。
