This article explores the abundant poetic use of symbolic exchange within Zhuangzi’s portrayals of experiences of Dao in fables, which too are novel products of spiritual intervention in his dealings with daily life. In other words, his “exchange artistry” is the “reappearance form” of his experiences of the Dao aesthetic realm, and the “symbolic exchange” derived from his “spiritual intervention” in daily life can be read as the concrete coordinate for comprehending his artistic spirit and concretist symbols that seek to overturn binary oppositions and the spirit of dichotomizing subject and object.
