本論文主要是研究郎尼根的思想,針對他從哲學《洞察》發展到神學《神學方法》的歷程。郎氏在《洞察》中的哲學是在建構認知理論,他討論人基於純粹、無私的求知欲,經由認知活動:經驗、理解、判斷,而此判斷是針對事實的真偽而作判斷,因此人有了知識的自我超越。郎氏在出版了《洞察》之後,他的思想有了關鍵性的轉變,他意識到人具有純粹、無私的價值欲,並且他綜合了人的情感和認知於人意識的第四層面,即存在層面和愛的層面。此外,郎氏在他後期的著作中,更加意識到歷史意識,他在《神學方法》中,呈現出這些新的發展。在《神學方法》中,郎氏指出:因為人的純粹價值欲,人在判斷時是針對價值作判斷,再者,他主張人除了對價值的判斷之外,尚須加上對價值的抉擇,如此人有了倫理的自我超越。此外,人還會繼續追問知識和倫理的根基,這就是神的問題,故神的問題是落在人的超越意念中。郎氏還提出人自我超越的滿全是與神相愛,此即宗教的自我超越。

英文摘要

The major concern of this paper is to investigate Lonergan’s thought. It focuses on the process of his development from his philosophy in Insight to his theology in Method in Theology. Lonergan’s philosophy, as developed in Insight, is based upon his cognitional theory. He argued that human beings are intellectually self-transcendent through their cognitional activities which are experience, understanding, and judgment based upon the pure human desire to know. The judgment is the judgment of fact in the cognitional theory. After the publication of Insight, Lonergan had a crucial shift in his thought. He realized that human beings have a pure desire for value. He synthesized human feeling and cognition on the fourth level of human consciousness. Moreover, in his later work, Lonergan became more aware of historical consciousness. He presented these new directions in Method in Theology. Lonergan argued in Method in Theology that human beings make a judgment of value based upon the pure desire for value. In addition, he thought that human beings not only judge value, but also choose value. This is moral self-transcendence. Lonergan argued that human beings continue to question the basis for the intellectual and moral dynamism which is the question of God. Therefore, the question of God lies in human the transcendental notions. Lonergan thought that the fulfillment of self-transcendence is to fall in love with God. This is religious self-transcendence.
