雨果（Victor Hugo）是法國19世紀大文豪，在法國文壇享有極為崇高的地位。文豪雨果在文學領域的尊榮地位無庸置疑，作為一位積極投入政治社會事務的文人，雨果的政治社會理念同樣受到高度重視，許多研究論述也都將其各類文學作品以及政治演說中所提到的政治社會理念一一加以提煉、彙整、與頌揚。本文採用德國社會學家馬克斯韋伯（Max Weber, 1864-1920）所提出的「政治志業」概念為主要分析角度，嘗試完整呈現雨果的政治志業全貌。本文首先介紹韋伯的政治學理論概念，繼而回溯雨果的政治事業歷程，列舉雨果重要社會人文思想要項，並且從其政治活動與政治志業中，歸納出雨果的政治人物特質以及其政治志業特徵。雨果的政治志業就是終其一生不斷用熱情行動來澆灌入世的社會關懷的偉大見證。

Being a leading figure in the 19th-century France, Victor Hugo was highly valued not only in literature but also in political and social affairs for his thought in this regard. And many studies have refined, compiled and complimented the political and social ideas mentioned in his literary works and political speeches. Through German sociologist Max Weber’s concept of “the political vocation,” we try to analyze and present Hugo’s political vocation comprehensively. Here we introduce the concepts of Weber’s political theories before tracing back throughout Hugo’s political career, listing the outlines of his important social and humanistic thoughts and induce from his political activities and vocation the features of Hugo as a political worker and the characteristics of his political vocation. Hugo’s political vocation is a great testament to the injection of passion and action into the social concern about the secular world.
