本文以女性形象之分析為主題,將小說中出現的女性人物分成三個部分來探討:首先是從女主角白梅由沉淪、沉澱到沉靜三個人物狀態,討論她如何突破自己的命運與社會的宰制。接著分析大多數娼寮女子的形象,從鴇母到雛妓,如何在社會的壓迫下自成一個生態體系。最後則是論述生母與養母形象,擴大提及當時人口交易的現象。在文中我們看見這些處於社會底層的女性,如何受到社會的壓迫,被迫走向一條不歸路。在這條路上,為了生存,她們必須找到自己的生存之道,扮演好社會期望的角色,才得以掙扎度日,這也是在小說中我們所必須關注與關切的議題。

英文摘要

The research paper aims at the analysis of female-images in A Flower in the Rainy Night, which will be divided into three parts. The context firstly illustrates the three phases the protagonist Bomei goes through—degradation, sedimentation and tranquility, and analyze how she fights the destiny and social suppression. Second, the research analyzes the images of the prostitutes, and to study how the bawds and harlots establish their own system under the social repression. Last, the research discusses the images of birth mother, adoptive mother and the phenomenon of human trafficing at that time. In the novel, we see these women who live in the bottom of society are repressed by the society and are forced to walk on the road of no return. On this road, they should find their way of survival and to play the role which is in accordance with social expectation so that they can struggle to live. And this is the issue that we should pay attention to in the novel.
