In order to downsizing government organization, promoting administrative effectiveness, and providing convenient, specific retrieval organism for people, United States government has developed Government Information Locator Service (GILS). This paper aims to discuss the development and metadata of GILS and then provide some suggestions for official information guidance services in Taiwan.
