Informal group can be found in various organizations including military organizations. It’s effectiveness can also be positive or negative to formal organizations depending on how the managers deal with it. The responsibilities of managers is to identify the structures of informal group, and to manage the group to lead the positive effects to the organization. Sociometry is a useful tool for managers to identify the structures of informal groups. Sociometry is easy to learn and easy to use. It can be used widely in the military organizations, to help the leaders of military units performing the management and leadership function.
