天主教傳入中國有成功也有失敗，失敗的例子是景教，而成功的例子則是利瑪竇，景教的失敗則是未能保持教會的特色，而利瑪竇的成功則是在能保存教會的特色下又能發展中國的特點，而後繼者特別是以天主教身份進入中國的輔仁大學更應以此成功的例子為其發展的參考。

The transmission of Catholicism to China used to both succeed and fail. The Nestorians failed, while Matteo Ricci succeeded. The Nestorians failed because they did not preserve the attributes of the church, while Matteo Ricci succeeded because he could balance between the attributes of the church and the characteristics of China. And his successors, especially Fu Jen University, which entered China in the name of Catholicism, should refer to the successful example of Ricci in developing Christianity.
