本文旨在論述《莊子》文本中「安」這個概念的重要性，並梳理「安」與「性」、「命」這兩個核心概念的關聯。本文認為，《莊子》通過「安」的概念論述了人面對生命中無奈境遇所應有的態度和行為。本文將分為三個部分加以論述。第一部分本文將釐清「性」與「命」在《莊子》文本中的特殊意涵。第二部分將展示「安」與這兩個概念的關係。第三部分則重在論述《莊子》文本中所提倡的「安」的態度對西方哲學傳統觀點的不同之處，以及其可能提出的貢獻與補充。

The focus of this paper is on analyzing the concept of an 安 (contentment) in relation to the two key concepts in the Zhuangzi, ming 命 (uncontrollable situations) and xing 性 (nature). I argue that the attitude of acceptance in the Zhuangzi can be abstracted from the concept of an when confronted with human limitations, as seen through the related concepts of ming and xing. In order to present the above arguments, this paper will be arranged in the following way: first, the connotations of xing and ming will be reexamined and new understandings of the concepts will be proposed. Second, the idea of an in relation to xing and ming in the Zhuangzi will be elaborated upon. Last, but not least, I present a discussion of how the “Zhuangzian” perspective of acceptance, which can be extracted from the idea of an, differs from the concept of acceptance in the Western philosophical tradition more broadly.
