The present paper attempts to establish the hypothesis that Matthew implicitly criticizes Paul under the concept of mission. The New Testament texts as a whole focus on Jesus Christ. However, it does not necessarily mean, as James Dunn reiterates, that all the texts have one homogeneous point of view towards the whole Christian faith.2 In this line of thought, the figure of Jesus, Paul, Matthew, etc. are not exactly the same. They and/or their thought and theology may also have differences.
