本文分析客觀報導與誹謗的關係，主要目的在;探討客觀報導是否 能使記者免於誹謗責任。作者將兩篇被法院判決確定構成誹謗名譽的 新聞報導，依三種客觀報導方法改寫，並把這兩篇報導的原文和修改 稿送交二十八位現任刑庭法官評閱，結果發現，法官認爲經過改寫的 新聞稿比較不足以構成誹謗。

This study explores the relationship between objective reporting and libel. The main purpose is to determine whether objective reporting procedures can help news reporters win favorable verdicts in libel suits. In preparing this study, two news stories which had been ruled as libel by the criminal court were revised according to three procedures of objective reporting. The two libelous stories and the revised stories were sent to 28 criminal court judges for reviews. The results of the study show that the criminal court judges tend to regard the revised stories as less likely to constitute libel than the original stories.
