This study investigates the model of intercultural communication competence. From intercultural communication competence literature nine main components are identified: self-disclosure/ self-consciousness, social relaxation, message skills, flexibility, interaction involvement, social skills, psychological adaptation, and cultural knowledge. In this study, 181 international students and 154 Americans who know these international students are asked to complete questionnaires about intercultural communication competence. Factor analysis results show that five factors of intercultual communication competence are prevalent: social adjustment, self-consciousness, communication skills, openness, and interaction involvement. Limitations and directions for future research are also discussed.
