在美國發展已漸然有成的「組織傳播」學門,在臺灣本土卻因獨 特的社會發展情境與學術成長環境,而呈現出不同的發展模式。爲了 釐清學界對此一學門的認識與相關的討論,並豐富傳播學領域多元的 内涵,本文試圖從「組織傳播」之源起、重要理論與相關學門、及其 發展過程,來探究此一學門知識之位置、理論建構(theorizing)、 與多元,點(multiple perspectives)的呈現,以期對此一領域做一 全面與深入的介紹。而當此一學門在美國蓬勃發展,且國内實務界又 需求甚切的情形下,本文也回到臺灣組織傳播研究與敎學的發展軌跡 上,對本土组織傳播學的研究與發展,做一現狀的分析、回顧,以及 發展特色之探討。最後,並對本土組織傳播研究之未來走向提出一些 建議與展望,以期此一學門能在臺灣萌芽茁壯,如此不僅豐富了傳播 領域更多元化的發展,也能爲實務與企業界提供更多瞭解及解決相關 問題的方法。

英文摘要

As a sub-field of Human Communication, the study of organizational communication has undergone significant changes during the past few decades in the United States. While scholars in various disciplines have studied communication in organizations for many years, the development of organization communication as an identifiable field with its own theories and methodology is relatively recent occurrence. Several perspectives on the study of organizational communication have also developed. Regardless of the development and trends in scholarly activities, this field is relatively new in Taiwan. This paper attempts to provide the reader with a sound foundation of concepts for understanding and discussing the field of study. The primary goal for this article is to complete the map of the development of organizational communication as a filed of study by introducing its origin, relationship to other fields, and various perspectives on the study of it. Having considered the origin and the development of this field, this article than offers an assessment of the field’s present status in Taiwan. By doing so, the paper explores the general academic acceptance of the field. Although as evidenced by an increase in published article, textbooks, and academic programs, the field of organizational com-munication still faces some growing pains. Particularly, scholars have found it difficult to establish an identity for the field in Taiwan. Finally, based on the previous discussions, this paper signifies several implications for advancing the study of organizational communication in Taiwan. It is clear that the emergence of the field here is different form the United States. Therefore, scholars here may need to employ different approaches to define and refine the study of organizational communication.
