本文將華嚴思維特色分門別類與相關現代思潮相互呼應,在圓融的總綱領下,分為:

一、整體思維:從華嚴的十玄、六相、因陀羅網,論及現代的機體哲學、一般系統論、宇宙全息統一論、無量之網(量子場)、生態環保、蝴蝶效應等思想。

二、相待思維:從華嚴的十句法、判教法、同異觀、善財童子五十三參、主伴圓明、華藏世界、十世隔法異成門(時間)、微細相容安立門(空間),論及現代的全球化理念、克魯泡特金的互助進化論、世界性宗教、詮釋無限度、解構主義、傅偉勳的多層詮釋法、現代天文學、愛因斯坦的相對論等思想。

三、價值思維:從華嚴的佛境界、託事顯法生解門、唯心迴轉善成門、世界層級、空間情境、放光、普賢行、五十三參,論及現代的價值科學、目的論生物學、存在空間美學、現代瀕死經驗研究、存在主義、赫賽的《悉達求道記》等思想。

本文從華嚴思維與現代思潮的呼應中,倡明華嚴思想在現代世界發展中的價值及其重要性。

英文摘要

This article classifies the characteristics of the thoughts of the Hua-yen Buddhism and parallels them with the related ideas in modern intellectual trends. Given perfect interfusion as the main principle, following categories are addressed:

1. monolithic thought: from the perspectives of the Ten Profound and Indra’s Net of the Hua-yen Buddhism, the modern thoughts, such as the organistic philosophy, general system theory, the holographic universe, the divine matrix, environment protection, the butterfly effect and so on, are discussed.

2. interconnection thought: Based on multiple ideas from the Huayen Buddhism, such as its ten-sentence expression, classification of doctrines, the identical and different thinking, Sudhana’s fifty-three visits, perfectly interfused and mutually cognitive chief and attendant, Vairocana Lotus World, the gate of the different formation of separate dharmas in ten ages (time), and the gate of the encompassing of the minute in the coexistence of the dharmas (spatial), the modern ideas of globalization, Peter Kropotkin’s mutual-aid evolution, world religions,unlimited interpretation, deconstructionism, Wei-Hsun Fu’s holistic multiperspectivism, modern astronomy, and Einstein’s relativity theory are discussed.

3. Value thought: Based on several ideas given by the Hua-yen Buddhism, such as the Buddha-state, the idea of illustrating the teaching of Dharma generates the understanding in terms of phenomena, the gate that the realization of the goodness depends on the operation of mind, world levels, space and context, illumination, Samantabhadra’s practice, and fifty-three visits, modern ideas of axiological science, teleological biology, the aesthetics of space, modern researches on near-death experience, existentialism, and of Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha are discussed.

Based on the correspondence of the Hua-yen thought and modern intellectual trends, the present article seeks to illustrate the values and importance of the Hua-yen thought in contemporary world development.
