The output value of Taiwan's photonics industry reached NT$ 1,913.3 billion in 2015, nearly NT$ 2 trillion dollars, or about US$ 60 billion, decreasing sharply by 8% as compared with NT$ 2,078.4 billion in 2014 but still accounting for 10% of the output valueof US$ 613.5 billion of the globalphotonics industry. However, the value decreased by 2 percent over the previous year. Looking ahead to the next three years, as Taiwan's photonics industry is still in transition, the industry scale should stay around NT$ 1,800 billion. Future photonicstechnology must find a way to break into the fields of internet of things, defense, green energy, health care and other fields in order to create another wave of growth.
