For the market share taken up by each manufacturer, the Chinese makerGalaxycoretook the No.1 spot with 21%; the second place was taken by Sony (Japan) and OmniVision (USA) with 19% each as shown in Fig. 1, wherein the lowpixel products such as VGA have shown rapid growth in the past few years. The rise of cheap smartphones has allowedGalaxycore to win the title in the quantity shipped with a low-price strategy. In terms of the amount of sales,Sony temporarily claimed the number one spot which accounted for 40%, followed by Samsung andOmniVision, which have an equal share of the quantity as shown in Fig.2. SONY, Samsung andOmniVision'spositioning is in the more high-end smartphone market.
