The global CMOS sensors shipments totaled about 4.65 billion pieces in 2014 with the Chinese manufacturer Galaxycore claiming the No.1 spot for the market share (by number of pieces sold) of 21%; the second place was each taken by Sony and Omnivision (USA) for 19%. As shown in Fig. 1, the low-pixel VGA products have shown rapid growth in the past few years. For the more high-end smart phone market, the top three makers are Sony, Samsung and OmniVision. In addition, On Semi acquired Aptina which specialized in the smart phone market in order to increase the share in the vehicle market.
