This article provides a practical introduction to inquiry in the art classroom. It begins with an overview of constructivist epistemology, juxtaposing it with a traditional conception of teaching and learning. It features an arts-based inquiry format and uses a learning-cycle model and K-W-L charts to support inquiry, providing guidance for teachers who are initiating it. A hypothetical example of student inquiry about indigenous textiles illustrates the inquiry process.
