In several European countries, the field of arts education has been gradually opened to the diversity of creative cultures, but the creative wealth of visual culture and its impact on daily life require the development of specific training inspired from visual literacy. In France, a new teaching devoted to image education has even been created by the Ministry of Education. However, teachers in charge of this program have not received specialized training and are often helpless. To assist them in the preparation of their lessons, the Research Center for Semiotics of Arts and Design and the Interactive Multimedia Master’s Course have created various websites to offer information and methodologies. After a brief presentation of our projects, models and theories, we will present our newest digital products that reinstate visual artifacts in the circuit of culture. Our model of this circuit leads us to make surveys with all the stakeholders involved in the production, dissemination and use of these artifacts, as well as with their communities of interpretation and use. Finally, we will present an applied study to a social advertizing.
