本研究旨在了解一處臺灣二戰日遺戰備遺址,如何轉變為國軍眷村居住空間之過程。2009 年9 月國防部及文建會公布「國軍老舊眷村文化保存選擇及審核辦法」,2012 年3 月國防部公 告13 處眷村計畫保存區,其中有9 處眷村是與二戰時期,日軍建設的戰備設施有關,其中一處 即為雲林虎尾建國新村。本研究目的:(1)了解日軍戰備建築型態改變與眷村居住空間演變過 程。(2)探討虎尾飛行場兵營與眷村生活空間演變,所呈現戰爭歷史與眷村文化意義。本研究 方法採取現場調查、深度訪談與比較分析方式。
研究發現:(1)二戰末期日本海軍興建虎尾飛行場兵營,反應在其戰備設施與建築配置的 轉變,顯示日軍為補充中途島戰役飛行折損措施,以及為因應戰爭實際需要,所呈現建築型態 與配置的改變現象。(2)二戰結束後國府空軍退守臺灣,將四座兵營建築改建為機場相關人員 居住使用,之後居民利用原建築物予以加建與併屋,因地制宜改變成為適合居住之有機空間, 並利用建築物四周空地做為生產空間。「虎尾飛行場兵營」見證日軍在臺軍事整備工作,以及訓 練特攻飛行員史實 ;「虎尾建國眷村」見證國軍在臺初級飛行訓練經過,轉變成為國軍在臺唯 一田園式眷村型態,兩者均具有戰爭歷史與文化保存價值。

英文摘要

The research aims to understand the process of how a Colonial Japanese military facility, build in the Second World War in Taiwan, been transformed to KMT military family housing. In September 2009, the Taiwan Ministry of National Defense and the Council for Cultural Affairs announced the "Regulations for the preservation, selection and review of old military family village "; In March 2012, the Ministry of National Defense announced 13 sites for the preservation of military family villages, of which 9 were the sites the Japanese military facilities during the Second World War. These Japanese military facilities have been transformed to KMT military family residential use after War. One of them is Jianguo New Village in Huwei. The research objectives are: (1) To understand the process how the World War 2 Japanese military facilities been transformed to KMT military family residence. (2) To explore the meaning of the earlier military facilities been transformed to later Huwei KMT military residence. The research method is to conduct an on-site survey, depth interview and inductive analysis.
The research summarized two key findings: (1) The original planning and its transformation of Huwei military facilities correspond to the practical demands of combat during war. (2) After War, KMT military family built extensions into (or onto) the original buildings and organically transformed to livable space.
