近年來,資料中心的成長持續往上提高,其 IT 設備的耗能亦相當可觀, 而資料中心主要由伺服器佔大部分,本研究以節能為出發點,針對伺服器以一 種分區管理流場之方法以增加冷卻效率,達到節能之目的。本研究以CFD 方 式進行分析,將IT 設備內之伺服器系統以分區之方法應用於將各發熱元件, 各區可各自管理自己之流場以避免分流,甚至在已經有節能機制之風扇轉速 控制下也有顯著的效果,以1 U 伺服器在35 度的環境溫度下,有分區管理可 節省風扇耗能約31.0% 及減少系統風量使用約12.9%。當95 W CPU 在較少 耗能76 W 的情況下,即使啟動風扇轉速控制機制後因節能而已經減少風扇轉 速及電力31.2%,在使用分區管理流場後,風扇電力可從31.2% 再節省至 46.2%,由結果來看,此分區管理流場之方法確實有效減少伺服器內風扇之耗 能而達到節能之效果。

英文摘要

The quantity of data centers grows year by year. The power consumption of IT equipment is huge. Servers are the main equipment of a data center. In this study, a divided zone method is developed to improve the cooling efficiency for purpose of power saving. The analysis is by simulation. A divided zone partition can concentrate airflow for key components to avoid airflow bypass for better cooling, even when a FSC (fan speed control) function is already implemented for the system. The partition in a 1U server can save 31.0% of the total fan power consumption and reduce the system airflow rate by 12.9% at 35 degrees Celsius ambient. For a specific load change in the server, the FSC function can save 31.2% of the fan power consumption when the CPU load is decreased from 95 W to 76 W. Power savings can be enhanced from 31.2% to 46.2% after implementing the divided zone partition with a FSC function. Obviously, the divided zone partition can introduce extra cooling efficiency to save more power.
