根據衛生福利部國民健康署2016年4月15日所公布，癌症已連續30多年為國人10大死因之首，且癌症時鐘較10年前快轉1.5倍，雖然大腸癌、肝癌和肺癌之發生率有遲緩，但女性癌症，包括子宮體癌和乳癌則有增加的趨勢。由於癌症治療方式的精進，使得病人在罹癌治療與控制後，因其存活期的延長，也衍生出病人與癌共存的相關議題。

According to data published on April 15th, 2016 by the Health Promotion Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare in Taiwan, cancer has been the leading cause of death in Taiwan for the last 3 decades. Moreover, the prevalence of cancer is now 1.5 times higher than just a decade ago. While the incidences of colon, liver, and lung cancers have remained relatively stable, those of uterine and breast cancers have increased. Improving cancer treatments have prolonged survival rates but also increased the need to improve our understanding of the issues that face those living with cancer-especially women.
