Yan Geling is a US-based writer and active in the literary world in recent years. She is also a prolific writer and has many award-winning works, most of which had been successfully filmed. The ninth widow was her works in 2006, and she focused on historical theme. Her immigrant background made she complete homeland historical memory writing with an "outsider" perspective. This article is intended to use an approach about close reading to analyze this works and tries to find out her historical perspective and personal expression.
