本硏究將從殺人犯罪新聞的報導量切入，探究媒體透過議題設定 理論框架了民眾對於殺人犯罪新聞的關注，而過往的硏究指出民眾被 害恐懼感產生的因素包含犯罪新聞報導與社會治安，當民眾的被害恐 懼感產生後，接著便會認爲目前臺灣治安狀況不甚理想，進而支持重 刑化的刑事政策。因此，本硏究之目的欲探討臺灣在2013年民眾重刑 態度達到高峰，而全國治安滿意度卻非最低，是否是受到殺人犯罪新 聞報導量的影響。 本硏究採用2014年廢除死刑推動聯盟「臺灣民眾對死刑的態度與 相關價値調查硏究」所蒐集之資料進行次級資料分析，硏究結果發 現：一、當考量媒體報導交互因素後，認爲媒體殺人新聞報導量過 高、治安滿意度高者，持有顯著重刑態度。二、全國治安滿意度與媒 體報導量的交互關係，可透過比較重刑態度的平均數分爲四組，第一 組主觀認爲報導量少且治安滿意度低者與第四組主觀認知報導量多但 治安滿意度高者兩組的重刑態度平均數是較低的；第二組主觀認爲報 導量少但治安滿意度高者和第三組主觀認爲報導量多且治安滿意度低 者的重刑態度平均數是較高的。因此，本硏究證明殺人犯罪新聞報導量，的確對民眾治安滿意度與重刑態度關係有調節作用。

The study explored if the severe public punitive attitudes are related the low public satisfaction with safety and how perceived media coverage of homicide news moderates this relationship. Analyzing data derived from the “2014 Survey research on Attitudes toward Death Penalty and Related Values in Taiwan” conducted by the Academia Sinica, this study found that, when considering the moderating effect , both homicide news coverage and public satisfaction with community safety were positively correlated with public attitudes toward puninitiveness. The results also indicated group 1 (perceived low homicide news coverage and low public satisfaction with community safety) shared the similar punitive attitudes with group 4 (perceived high homicide news coverage and high satisfaction with community safety). On the other hand, group 2 (perceived low homicide news coverage and high satisfaction with community safety) shared the similar lenient punishment attitudes with group 3 (perceived high homicide crime news coverage and low satisfaction with community safety). The study concluded that perceived homicide news coverage had a moderating effect on public satisfaction with community safety and their attitudes toward punitiveness .
